TOOBORAC CFA joined with Nulla Vale and Pyalong CFA for an Open Day and Community barbecue last Sunday at Tooborac Mechanics Institute Hall and Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
A Fire Safety Essentials Meeting was led by Community Safety Officer Sharon Hibbert.<\/p>\n
Ms Hibbert spoke to attendees about all aspects of fire safety.<\/p>\n
“It is important to have a fire plan,” said Ms Hibbert.<\/p>\n
“Decide when you will leave or stay and what to take if you leave.<\/p>\n
“Things to consider are cash, medications, pets, clothes, identity documents, mobile phones and chargers.<\/p>\n
“It is a good idea to have an emergency kit prepared including jeans, boots, hats, masks and googles.<\/p>\n
“Know what to expect if a fire approaches your property.<\/p>\n
“It can mean the difference between survival or not.”<\/p>\n
Jason Hagan from Tooborac CFA said it was good that the three brigades could collaborate to allow their communities to learn more about fire safety and meet their brigade members.<\/p>\n
“Sharon gave a good presentation, reminding people to think about what they will do in the upcoming fire season,” he said.<\/p>\n
“The session was well attended, and everyone was able to learn what to do to prepare their properties.”<\/p>\n
Following the Fire Safety Essentials session, attendees enjoyed a free community barbecue and free face painting for the kids.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
