A PREMIERSHIP winner at Sandhurst, Brodie Montague has crossed from the Dragons to the Mount Pleasant Blues.<\/p>\n
Montague’s signing with the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL club is a huge plus as the 2023 premiers aim to jump back into contention.<\/p>\n
After a brilliant run from an elimination final to win the ’23 grand final against Heathcote the Blues went into last season without co-coaches Adam Baird and Ben Weightman, as well as key defenders Bryce Hinneberg and William Wallace.<\/p>\n
The club had dual premiership coach Cameron Carter return as non-playing coach.<\/p>\n
A new look for the Toolleen-based club includes Josh Hann signing on as playing coach after a successful run with Kerang to team up with Carter in the coaching roles.<\/p>\n
A solidly-built on-baller, Montague’s running power is a major strength of his game.<\/p>\n
His athleticism was to the fore as he ran last month’s Nike Melbourne Marathon in 3hours 10minutes and was 833rd in a field of almost 6400.<\/p>\n
Montague was 163rd in a 35-39 years class which hit 994 entries.<\/p>\n
In 2016, Montague and Hann were team-mates as Sandhurst won the Bendigo FNL senior grand final against Golden Square.<\/p>\n
A fitness fanatic, Montague also completed the Long Run as a fund-raiser for the Prostate Cancer Foundation in 2021.<\/p>\n
He brings plenty of football experience from stints with Rochester, Bendigo Pioneers, Ainslie.<\/p>\n
Montague was a key player in the Dragons’ run to last season’s reserves premiership.<\/p>\n
