MITCHELL Shire Council has thanked residents for their vigilance in reporting illegal rubbish dumping.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the community’s efforts, six offenders have been identified and fined in the past fortnight, sending a strong message that illegal dumping will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n

Following the reports, council officers investigated and issued eight fines exceeding $1000 each.<\/p>\n

Offenders were also ordered to clean up the waste within seven days. Failure to comply may result in Magistrates Court proceedings.<\/p>\n

Mitchell Shire Council works closely with the Environment Protection Authority to tackle illegal dumping and protect the environment.<\/p>\n

“Our residents’ dedication to keeping Mitchell Shire clean is making a real difference,” said Mitchell Shire CEO Brett Luxford.<\/p>\n

“By reporting suspicious activity, our community is playing a crucial role in protecting our environment and public spaces.<\/p>\n

“We thank community members for remaining vigilant and reporting illegal dumping.<\/p>\n

“These reports have helped us investigate and fine offenders, keeping our community cleaner and safer.<\/p>\n

“If you see illegal dumping or suspicious activity, please notify council. Together, we can create a cleaner Mitchell Shire.”<\/p>\n

To support responsible waste disposal, Mitchell Shire offers options at Resource Recovery Centres in Broadford, Pyalong, Seymour, and Wallan.<\/p>\n

Accepted items include car batteries, e-waste (TVs, computers, toasters), cardboard, gas bottles (up to nine kilograms), fluorescent globes, and metals\/steel, broken appliances, mattresses, couches, motor oil, tyres, clean concrete and bricks, fridges, and freezers.<\/p>\n

Council also provides resource recovery centre vouchers on an annual basis with the first rates notice of each year.<\/p>\n
