{"id":97863,"date":"2024-12-06T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-05T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=97863"},"modified":"2024-12-05T00:47:11","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T13:47:11","slug":"colourful-fundraiser-a-brilliant-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/colourful-fundraiser-a-brilliant-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Colourful fundraiser a brilliant success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HEATHCOTE Primary School held their first Colour Run fundraiser last week, raising seven thousand dollars to create a sensory playground at the school.<\/p>\n<p>CFA members attended to spray students with water enhancing the colour dust deployed by teachers.<\/p>\n<p>The event was organised by staff members Brenda King and Concetta Sergi with help from Junior School Council members.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/12\/HPSfunrun3_86848.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"769\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brenda King led the cheers as students slimed staff members.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a bunch of activities spread around the oval,&#8221; said Junior School Council member Hailee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Students ran around class by class and were sprinkled by the CFA hoses and had colour powder squirted on them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone wore white T-shirts, and it ended up very colourful.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/12\/HPSfunrun4_89114.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"487\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students enjoyed a refreshing sprinkle from CFA members after running around the oval.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Junior School Council member Lilah said that for every $500 raised a teacher was slimed after the fun run.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ms Crowther was the first target after we raised $500 and in the end we raised enough to slime all the teachers,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Sergi said she was very pleased the event was a success, both in the enjoyment in the day and in reaching the fundraising goal of $7000 to create a sensory garden at the school.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sensory play is play that encourages any of our senses, and also includes movement, balance and spatial awareness,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/12\/HPSfunrun5_05092.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1363\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students completed a range of different activities set out on the school oval while being sprayed with colour powder by teachers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem solving and creativity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sensory play is beneficial for the brain development of children of all abilities, ages and developmental stages.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are incredibly grateful for the support we received from our community.
