{"id":98034,"date":"2024-12-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=98034"},"modified":"2024-12-17T23:31:29","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T12:31:29","slug":"if-they-make-it-will-you-come","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/if-they-make-it-will-you-come\/","title":{"rendered":"If they make it will you come?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VOLUNTEERS at Heathcote Community House have been busy again this Christmas, creating a display using mostly recycled materials.<\/p>\n<p>The decorations were coordinated by Sylvia Crewe, a trained florist who has been volunteering at the house for almost two years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Budgets are tight, and I want to show everyone that it is possible to make a great display with minimum expense,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There have been so many people complaining that we don&#8217;t have many decorations in town and blaming the City of Greater Bendigo for giving us a raw deal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But we don&#8217;t need to rely on the council for everything. There is so much we can all do without breaking the budget.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I hope the display at community house inspires residents and business owners to think about what they can do next year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Crewe will be offering classes at the community house next year to show people how to use pool noodles and recycled items to make decorations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am calling on residents to come and see what can be done,&#8221; she said. &#8220;If we make it, will you come?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All everyone will need is a glue gun, everything else will be provided. We can recycle and reuse; the possibilities are endless.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It would be wonderful if we could extend the decorations and displays throughout the town next Christmas. I know of other towns that have done an amazing job with everyone pitching in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am sure it would uplift everyone in the true spirit of Christmas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Community house executive officer Vicki Forde agreed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It would be great to build community spirit and share ownership of something special,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/12\/Commhousedecorations_16506.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Classes throughout 2025 will be aimed at inspiring residents to build Christmas spirit and decorate the town.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;Sylvia has coordinated a wonderful display.
