{"id":98210,"date":"2025-01-04T14:37:44","date_gmt":"2025-01-04T03:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/total-fire-ban-declared-for-sunday-across-much-of-victoria\/"},"modified":"2025-01-04T14:37:44","modified_gmt":"2025-01-04T03:37:44","slug":"total-fire-ban-declared-for-sunday-across-much-of-victoria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/total-fire-ban-declared-for-sunday-across-much-of-victoria\/","title":{"rendered":"Total Fire Ban declared for Sunday across much of Victoria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE CFA have declared a Total Fire Ban (TFB) for the Central, North Central, Southwest, Mallee and Wimmera fire districts tomorrow (Sunday, January 5).<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow\u2019s conditions in those five fire districts will remain hot and dry, with temperatures reaching the low 40s, with potential for local gusty conditions.<\/p>\n<p>A TFB means no fire can be lit in the open air or allowed to remain alight from 12.01am to 11.59pm on that day.<\/p>\n<p>CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan said the TFB had been declared across the due to the expected conditions across the Mallee, Wimmera, Southwest, Central, and North Central fire districts tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tomorrow\u2019s conditions will make it difficult for firefighters to supress a fire should one start.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEspecially with fires in the landscape already we\u2019re asking people to follow the strict conditions associated with the Total Fire Ban declaration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnderstand how the increased fire risk will impact you and ensure your fire plan covers all possible contingencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople travelling throughout the state during these summer holidays also need to remain alert and in tune with current fire danger ratings and warnings via the VicEmergency website or app and your emergency broadcasters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Victorians can find out if it is a TFB on the CFA website at <a href=\"http:\/\/cfa.vic.gov.au\">cfa.vic.gov.au<\/a>, where it is usually published by 5pm the day before a TFB.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on what you can and cannot do during a TFB and the Fire Danger Period, head to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfa.vic.gov.au\/warnings-restrictions\/fire-bans-ratings-and-restrictions\/can-i-or-cant-i\">Can I or Can&#8217;t I page on the CFA website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Victorians should also make sure they have access to more than one source of information.<\/p>\n<p>They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ABC local radio, commercial and designated radio stations of Sky News<\/li>\n<li>The VicEmergency App<\/li>\n<li>The VicEmergency website at <a href=\"http:\/\/emergency.vic.gov.au\">emergency.vic.gov.au<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226, and<\/li>\n<li>CFA or VicEmergency Twitter or Facebook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE CFA have declared a Total Fire Ban (TFB) for the Central, North Central, Southwest, Mallee and Wimmera fire districts tomorrow (Sunday, January 5).
