HEATHCOTE residents will have the opportunity to learn about geocaching, the world’s largest treasure hunt, at a workshop to be held at Heathcote Community House on Wednesday 15 January.<\/p>\n

A second workshop will be held at Rochester Community House on Thursday 16 January.<\/p>\n

Geocaching is a fun outdoor adventure where participants use GPS coordinates to find hidden containers, aka geocaches.<\/p>\n

The workshops will be hosted by Healthy Loddon Campaspe.<\/p>\n

“Geocaching is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to go out into the great outdoors and enjoy a fun activity,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.<\/p>\n

“Anyone can join in; all participants need is a smartphone with GPS capabilities.<\/p>\n

“Then they need to download the Geocaching.com app which will show if there are any geocaches in the area.<\/p>\n

“Inside each geocache is a logbook to sign and the possibility of some cool trinkets, or caches, to trade.<\/p>\n

“It is perfect for explorers of all ages.”<\/p>\n

Geocaches can be found all over the world.<\/p>\n

Containers are hidden in various locations, each containing toys or trinkets.<\/p>\n

Geocachers can take the items from the containers but must replace them with something of equal or greater value.<\/p>\n

Workshop participants will learn all the ins and out of geocaching from an expert representative from Geocaching Victoria.<\/p>\n
