{"id":98938,"date":"2025-03-14T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=98938"},"modified":"2025-03-12T21:37:55","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T10:37:55","slug":"in-celebration-of-the-autumn-harvest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/in-celebration-of-the-autumn-harvest\/","title":{"rendered":"In celebration of the autumn harvest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE-than eight hundred adults, children and their canine companions gathered at Barrack Reserve for the Heathcote Harvest Festival last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The festival celebrates the beginning of autumn and harvest for the local wine industry.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors from the local area and further afield relaxed on hay bales and picnic blankets to enjoy the free musical entertainment and games for children.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_98947\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-98947\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-98947\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/03\/Harvestfest1_65806_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"627\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-98947\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Aimee Mullins came from Bendigo with Luna to enjoy the celebration.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The festival was officially launched in 2022 after the success of a previous event called The Heathcote Community Festival in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra Kirby was one of the locals who attended the festival.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What a wonderful afternoon,&#8221; she said,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a really great turn-out and the weather is perfect.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_98948\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-98948\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-98948\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/03\/Harvestfest2_68631_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"693\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-98948\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sandra Kirby relaxed on a hay bale and enjoyed the musical entertainment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event started at 4pm with a twilight market featuring a variety of local and regional stalls.<\/p>\n<p>Stallholders Alison Jeavons and Wendy Collins said their sales were up on last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sales last year were very slow,&#8221; said Ms Jeavons.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But this year we started off quite well and we were pleased with how it went.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/03\/Harvestfest4_73295.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"543\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alison Jeavons and Wendy Collins reported good sales on their stall at the festival.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>India Munari from Heathcote Tourism said she received some very encouraging feedback from attendees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were super encouraged by the feedback we received and were happy with the crowd numbers considering it was a very busy weekend all across Victoria,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We like to provide lots of free entertainment and the children&#8217;s activities and music were well received.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The headline music act Willowbank Grove proved popular as visitors relaxed on hay bales to listen.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/03\/Harvestfest8_75815.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"498\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Amie Little and Wendy McTavish took Holly, Molly and Sampson to the Heathcote Harvest Festival.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Next year we are hoping to increase stallholder numbers with an even bigger variety of stalls from produce to crafts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will be reaching out before next year&#8217;s event.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sandra Kirby relaxed on a hay bale and enjoyed the musical entertainment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE-than eight hundred adults, children and their canine companions gathered at Barrack Reserve for the Heathcote Harvest Festival last weekend.
