A FUNDRAISER for The Sisterhood Project will be held in the gardens at Coliban Springs on Saturday 22 March.<\/p>\n

The not-for-profit organisation, was formed by Grace and Skye Larson in 2022.<\/p>\n

The Sisterhood Project partners with First Aid providers to offer free infant and Child First Aid training to parents and carers that can’t otherwise afford it.<\/p>\n

“My sister Skye and I are committed to make lifesaving skills accessible to everyone,” said Grace Larson.<\/p>\n

“We do this by delivering free and accessible training in regions where preventable childhood deaths are highest and equipping parents and caregivers with essential knowledge to act swiftly in emergencies.<\/p>\n

“These cohorts include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, low socio-economic areas, rural and remote communities, and linguistically diverse communities.”<\/p>\n

Attendees will spend the afternoon enjoying the gardens at Coliban Springs, located in the rolling granite hills of Redesdale and Sutton Grange.<\/p>\n

What was previously a sheep paddock is now a drought tolerant landscape undulating with paths leading to deep beds with massed plantings and quiet areas to sit and look at the garden.<\/p>\n

There are many garden sculptures placed in open spaces and near the lawn.<\/p>\n

A children’s play area is integrated into the garden plan.<\/p>\n

Another planting surprise is the row of grass trees with a backdrop of a forest of casuarinas.<\/p>\n

Highlights of this garden include Beryl’s Deck overlooking the lake, the grass trees with casuarina forest, imparting a sense of peace as visitors explore the many paths.<\/p>\n

The fundraiser is set to be a majestic afternoon including a roving afternoon tea catered by the CWA, guest speakers, and stalls from local producers.<\/p>\n

“We are very lucky to have Grace Larson living locally in Mia Mia,” said Kathryn Hall from the Country Women’s Association.<\/p>\n

“She has already held numerous educational sessions and fundraising events for The Sisterhood project.”<\/p>\n
