{"id":99008,"date":"2025-03-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=99008"},"modified":"2025-03-19T20:50:17","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T09:50:17","slug":"australia-day-fundraiser-proceeds-put-to-good-use","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/australia-day-fundraiser-proceeds-put-to-good-use\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia Day fundraiser proceeds put to good use"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>REPRESENTATIVES from Heathcote Bowling Club this week presented the proceeds from their Australia Day Charity Fundraiser to the recipients.<\/p>\n<p>Six thousand five hundred dollars was raised on the day.<\/p>\n<p>The money was split between SES Heathcote Unit and the Royal Flying Doctors Transport Service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a fun day,&#8221; said Lorraine Spiers from Heathcote Bowling Club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was our first time organising the event after the previous MND Dennis Gleeson Superchallenge that was held on Australia Day.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/03\/SESBowling2_84089.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"479\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Thanks to the Bendigo Bank Heathcote and District, the donation to the SES Heathcote Unit will be matched dollar for dollar. Photo: SANDRA JAMES<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were very pleased with the result and raised even more than we hoped for.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is great to be able to give the proceeds to two such worthy causes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had an amazing response with almost every business in the town donating to our raffle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And we have to give a big thank you to the community for their support.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>SES Unit Controller Darren O&#8217;Connor said the organisation was thankful to be chosen as one of the recipients.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was timely thinking with the Bendigo Bank Heathcote and District currently doubling every donation received towards our 4WD Medium Rescue Truck Fundraising Campaign,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_99014\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-99014\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-99014\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/03\/RFDSBowling_86519-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1119\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-99014\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lorraine and Greg Speirs presented Mary Beedle from RFDS Community Transport with a cheque for $3250 to go towards providing transport for community members needing medical treatment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very grateful to the Bowling Club, local business and the community for supporting the Australian Day event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have now passed $70,000 in total funds raised.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mary Beedle from the Royal Flying Doctors Service Community Transport said they were very grateful for the donation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Bowls Club do a wonderful job in the community,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With all they do they are the cornerstone of the Heathcote community.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REPRESENTATIVES from Heathcote Bowling Club this week presented the proceeds from their Australia Day Charity Fundraiser to the recipients.
