THE Heathcote screening of the Central Victorian Indigenous Film Festival will be held tonight in the McIvor Room at the Barrack Reserve Hall.<\/p>\n
The free screening is presented by Advance Heathcote Inc and the City of Greater Bendigo.<\/p>\n
This year’s screening is Sweet As, a 2022 Australian coming-of-age drama, directed by Jub Clerc and starring Shantae Barnes-Cowan and Mark Coles Smith.<\/p>\n
Sweet As tells the story of Murra, an Aboriginal Australian girl from a troubled family, who discovers a passion for photography while participating in a youth retreat.<\/p>\n
It is set in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.<\/p>\n
On the cusp of being lost in the child protection system, an unusual lifeline is thrown her way by her uncle Ian, the local police officer, in the form of a unique Photo Safari.<\/p>\n
Sweet As has beendescribed as an uplifting coming-of-age road movie about unconventional friendships, first crushes and finding who you are on the road less travelled.<\/p>\n
The Indigenous Film Festival is free with a light supper and local wine at bar prices.<\/p>\n
