{"id":99987,"date":"2025-06-23T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-22T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=99987"},"modified":"2025-06-18T21:52:27","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T11:52:27","slug":"baking-their-best","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/baking-their-best\/","title":{"rendered":"Baking their best"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STAFF at Heathcote Health held a bake-off last week in support of the Cancer Council&#8217;s Biggest Morning Tea.<\/p>\n<p>The entries were judged on taste, presentation and creativity.<\/p>\n<p>Seven entries were received: Biscoff Cheesecake, Grandma&#8217;s Apple Slice, Garden Party Tea Cake, Dulce de leche, Savoury Shape Cup Cakes, Not Quite Christmas in July, and Banana cake.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/06\/HHbakeoff2_26124.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jo Stanford, Michelle Chapman and Jim Staggard happily offered their services to taste test the entries.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Judges Jo Stanford and Jim Staggers from Heathcote Health and residents Francis and Pricilla from the Aged Care facility, agreed it was a tough job, but someone had to do it.<\/p>\n<p>Executive assistant at Heathcote Health, Michelle Chapman said Pricilla and Francis were chosen to represent residents after offering well thought-out feedback on meals at the facility.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were some brilliant entries with very different ideas,&#8221; said Pricilla.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/06\/HHbakeoff3_29730.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jo Stanford and Jenny Casey (back), with Francis and Pricilla, thought all the entries deserved a prize.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s really good because everyone has different tastes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Aged care corporate services manager Andrew Walker who organised the event said Heathcote Health has been holding bake-offs in support of the Cancer Council for several years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We always like to help,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/06\/HHbakeoff4_32985.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Francis and Pricilla from the aged care facility were chosen to help judge the entries after offering constructive feedback on the hospital&#8217;s meals.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We spend our days helping those who are not well, and it is good to do something that might prevent a future illness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>First prize was won by John the Chef with his Not Quite Christmas in July creation.<\/p>\n<p>There were three equal second prizes, going to Chantelle (Biscoff Cheesecake), Michelle (Garden Party Tea Cake) and Andrew (Dulce de leche).<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STAFF at Heathcote Health held a bake-off last week in support of the Cancer Council&#8217;s Biggest Morning Tea.
