Mount Gambier’s Hastings Cunningham Reserve will be transformed into a car lovers paradise this Saturday when the South East Street Machines host their annual Show ‘N’ Shine.

Organisers are expecting up to 180 entries to the popular event that sees classic, vintage and veteran car owners bring their pride and joy to the Mount Gambier reserve to join with hundreds of like-minded visitors to showcase the much oved vehicles.

South East Street Machines all also have a clubrooms on site that will help host the weekend’s events as well.

Organiser Jim Coombe was hopefully the October 4 event would again be well-supported, not just by those bringing their cars to display but locals and visitors alike, who just love to come and admire the classic cars.

Recent events have attracted between 160 and 185 entries and while the weather looks less than favourable either side of the October 4 Show ‘N’ Shine, the weather gods look to have ensured perfect conditions for the event with temperatures in the mid 20s and little or no rain.

“We’ve got great sponsors again for the event and there will be a major raffle on the day where winners get to select their prize from a diverse range of goods and services generously donated,” Jim said. “We have changed it up this year and you have to be there to collect your prize.

“There will be cars, trucks and bikes on show and we will have three new trucks – one semi and two prime movers – that will be the centrepiece of the weekend.”

Entries will start setting up from 8am with the public able to start checking things out from 9am and the trophy presentations for the raft of awards on offer will take place between 1pm and 2pm.

Some of the club’s younger members are also organising a cruise around the district while the event is being packed away before refreshments in the clubrooms will round out the day.
