Artist in residence project & debut album unveiled

 

Suffoir Winery, Brewery and Distillery’s inaugural Art@Suffoir exhibition was a huge success with a great crowd soaking up the sun, live music and art by local artist in residence Juanita Pohl.

Suffoir’s artist in residence, Juanita Pohl, was excited to showcase the mural and sculpture that she had been working on for the past few months.

“While there have certainly been challenges with regards to painting an outdoor mural in winter Victoria,” she said. “This project has become a highlight on my artistic journey. I’ve loved meeting new people and sharing with them some of my thoughts and ideas in relation to further potential on the property.”

Owners Michelle and Pieter Badenhorst said it was a true joy of having Juanita on the property. “It was always a highlight knowing that she would be there on the day and how a paint stroke would morph into a work of art,” Michelle said. “It was also endearing to see how every second person tried to buy her sculpture, Poppy, even before the exhibition.”

The October event was a celebration of art, wine, community and music.

Soulty, a local artist, used the opportunity to launch her debut album, ‘Sky. Rain.Storm’,

 

the Macarthur Kindergarten used the opportunity to fundraise by selling baked goods and Suffoir Winery, Brewery and Distillery launched their first gin ice cream. “A must try, and only available at our cellar door,” Michelle said. Soulty was a big hit, and visitors enjoyed her music so much that they asked to have her back in the future. “This has been a lifelong dream of mine, and it was great seeing how the audience connected with my music,” Soulty said.
