Call out for entries for art prize
ENTRIES for the Tatiara Art Prize will close at the end of July. Held every two years, the $10,000 acquisitive prize invites submissions of new or recent work by Australian artists.
Presented by the Walkway Gallery since 2013, the prize is generously supported by the Tatiara District Council.
Finalists will be selected by a national judging panel announced today. In 2025, the Tatiara Art Prize judges are Leigh Robb; Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of South Australia; Ashleigh Whatling, Director of the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre in the City of Mount Gambier and Alanah Ellen Brand, a respected contemporary portrait painter from Bendigo, Victoria. All works selected as finalists will be exhibited in a major exhibition at the Walkway Gallery from 26 September – 8 November 2025. The winner will be announced at the official opening on Friday 26 September 2025 and their work will be acquired into the Council’s collection.
The 2025 Tatiara Art Prize finalist exhibition will include a Local Art Prize, Young Artist Prize and People’s Choice Prize.
• The Local Art Prize is a non-acquisitive cash prize of $1,500 open to any local Tatiara artist.
• The Young Artist Prize is open to all artists under 17 years of age who live, study or work within the Tatiara District Council boundaries. Prizes are 0-5 years old: $100 art voucher; 6-9 years old: $100; 10-14 years old: $200; 15-17 years old: $300.
• The People’s Choice Prize is a non-acquisitive cash prize of $1,000 awarded to the artist chosen by a public vote and will be announced at the close of the exhibition.
