Cancer Council branch hands over donation
Mount Gambier members raise $25,000 for room
For the past three years a very small group of Mount Gambier branch members of the SA Cancer Council have been working very hard to raise $25,000 to have a room at the new Greenhill Lodge complex named the Mount Gambier Room. That hard earned donation was handed over to Canceron Council officials (pictured above) last week with Mount Gambier couple Allan and Carol Garrett, who are currently staying at Greenhill Lodge, handing over the cheque on behalf of the Mount Gambier branch.
The branch is now gearing up for Daffodil Day on August 31 – the Cancerl Council’s major annual fundraiser. There will be three donation sites in Mount Gambier – She’s Apples, Mount Gambier Markteplace and Chapmans Newsagency, with manned stalls from 9am to 3pm, or until all the daffodils are sold. The daffodils will be $10 a bunch and the Lions Club of Blue Lake City Lioness have put their hand up to help man the sites and sell daffodils on the day.
Cancer Council SA branches are the faces and voices of Cancer Council SA in regional South Australia, who work so hard to raise funds and awareness for our vital programs and services and officials were grateful to the Mount Gambier Branch for their passion and ongoing support which is helping work to reduce the rate and impact of cancer for all South Australians.
