In a tribute to the silent pillars of our community, United Way Glenelg is seeking out five remarkable older community members whose contributions often go unnoticed but have profoundly impacted the community’s tapestry.

United Way Glenelg executive officer Nicole Carr said this initiative aimed to shine a spotlight on the older members of our community who have dedicated their lives to making a significant impact across various sectors, including education, arts, sports, disability advocacy, and diversity.

“As we approach the 10th anniversary of the Lewis Court Fund, our goal is to gather and share five extraordinary stories of senior individuals whose efforts and contributions have woven the rich fabric of our community yet have remained largely unrecognised,” Ms Carr said.

“This project not only honours the individuals but also aims to inspire future generations with the stories of dedication, perseverance, and selflessness that have contributed to the well-being and richness of our community.”

The narratives will be brought to life through intimate interviews and professional filming with Powerhouse Productions, culminating in a series of five short-form films that will be released in the lead-up to the International Day of Older People in October 2024.

So now project organisers require nominations for who to feature in this production.
