Community groups postpone open day event
THE Mount Gambier Gem Club and South East Detectors Club have reluctantly had to postpone their Open Day next month but organisers are hopeful a new time can be allocated to allow the community to immerse themselves in both clubs’ core business.
The two clubs complement each other’s passions and continue to share all things mineral, rock, crystal, gold and relics as they keep the lapidary, prospecting and collecting vision active in our community.
The clubs meet regularly at Shed 6 at Hastings Cunningham Reserve in Mount Gambier and memberships are available for both groups and families can join together in an alternative hobby to discover new or inexpensive crafts.
Field trips are a regular part of the annual program, along with workshops and social events.
There are activities suitable for people with disabilities and children of school age.
If you are a hobbyist, a serious rock hound, prospector or just looking to try something new, then contact the clubs to see how you can get involved.
The members of this hub of activity are keen to share their crafts and knowledge with the community.
