The countdown is on to the 2024 Key 2 Kindness Charity Ball with key auction items being unveiled and tickets selling fast.

Accommodation packages in Robe and Warrnambool; a six Seat Corporate Box Experience for a 2024 Pioneers Home Game @ Wulanda, including food & beverage; four tickets to the Showdown at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, May 2, a Backyard Party Package including spit hire, lamb, drinks, fire pit and festoon lighting and a night in a Premier King Spa Suit at The Barn plus a $200 voucher to the restaurant headline the list of auction items, with organisers still happy to accept donations.

Key 2 Sale principal Gail Richards, who is also hosting the March 2 event, said the Key 2 Kindness Charity Ball was proudly dedicated to supporting palliative care services within our community, with.

“Through this event, we aim to not only raise vital funds for these crucial services, but also spark meaningful conversations and raise awareness about the critical need for a dedicated hospice facility in the Mount Gambier and Limestone Coast region,” Gail said.

And the raising awareness component of the event will be more than capably by guest speaker Diane Wright OAM – a pioneer in the palliative care field.

“Diane has had a positive impact on the quality of life of hundreds of Australians and has been a trailblazer in paving the way for innovation in Victorian Regional palliative care,” Gail said.

Diane has served as president of Anam Cara Colac from 2011 to March last year and has now stepped into the role of President Emeritus.

She received a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2019 in recognition of her community work and her other honours include a Paul Harris fellowship from Rotary, an outstanding women’s achievement award from Zonta International, a place on the Victorian Women’s Honour Roll and life membership of Palliative Care Victoria.

Palliative care holds a special place in Diane’s heart and her journey with palliative care spans some 25 years, during which time she has made a significant contribution to the community in founding Anam Cara House Geelong and Anam Cara House Colac, to serve the communities of both Geelong and Colac across South West Victoria.

The Colac and regional community worked together to establish Anam Cara Colac in 2011 raising more than $3.2 million and providing more than 12,000 hours of pro bono labour.

Now in its 12th year of operation, Anam Cara Colac is a highly successful hospice palliative care service.

In October last year the new Anam Cara House Geelong was officially opened on the Deakin Campus at Waurn Ponds – the extension of Diane’s vision of a hospice for the Geelong community, which was first established in 2007.

Aside from the expertise of Diane Wright, there will also be entertainment from the musical stylings of Ali Newman and Emma Anderson, while Darren Maney will take charge of the auction.

There will also be a silent auction, Wine Wall and $500 cash up for grabs and while tickets are selling fast you can still book your place.
