Enjoy a Night at the Caves

September 23, 2025 BY

NARACOORTE Lucindale Council is proudly collaborating with the Limestone Coast Landscape Board and World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves National Park to bring a free, family-friendly twilight event to the Naracoorte Caves next month.

The community is invited to come along to “A Night at the Caves” on Saturday 11 October at 4-8pm – a free, fun-filled night out to learn more about the fascinating world of bats!

Activities will be available for all ages including basket weaving, storytelling, art and craft activities and nature scavenger hunts. There will also be Southern Bent-wing bat experts showcasing the Bat Observation Centre and cultural learnings in Blanche Cave.

Damien Bickley, Limestone Coast Landscape Board Education Coordinator, encourages all families to attend this twilight event in the stunning local landscape of the Naracoorte Caves.

“There are many wonderful activities on offer at this event, and to experience the Naracoorte Caves on twilight is truly magical. Families are welcome to stay for the bat fly-out on sunset and witness a spectacular sight.

“Bats are incredible contributors to our environment. This event gives families a chance to connect with nature and learn about these remarkable creatures in a fun and engaging way.”

Bring a torch, rug or camp chairs, and enjoy a relaxed evening outdoors. You’re welcome to bring a picnic, enjoy the free sausage sizzle, or purchase food and drinks from the Caves Café.
