WATTLE Range Council is proud to announce the 2025 Wattle Range Art Exhibition is now open for entries, marking ten years of celebrating regional creativity and talent.

This milestone also coincides with the 33rd anniversary of the Millicent Art Gallery, a cornerstone of the local arts in the Wattle Range community.

“The Exhibition has become a key event on the regional arts calendar, and it is a great opportunity to showcase our region’s artistic talent and bring together our arts community. ”The exhibition will officially open on Friday, 28 November 2025, at the Millicent Art Gallery.

Since its launch in 2015, the exhibition has grown from 130 to over 200 entries annually, attracting artists from across South Australia and Victoria.

Prizes are awarded across a diverse range of categories, including the prestigious overall Wattle Range Art Prize, 3D art, textiles, mixed media, printmaking and drawing. Additional Special categories for the exhibition include the Mayoral Award, Youth Award and First- Time Entrant Award.

In 2024, Dale Bishop’s Landscape of a Farm House was awarded the prestigious Wattle Range Art Prize, while Libby Altschwager’s Tantanoola Potato Huts received the Mayoral Award, highlighting the exceptional talent emerging from the region.

Some of the award-winning works and selected entries have also been hung in the Wattle Range Council Service Centre, allowing the broader community to enjoy and engage with the art beyond the gallery setting.

The Millicent Art Gallery has been shaped by the dedication of staff and volunteers over the years, including the late Barbara Wallace, whose legacy continues to inspire. Her enduring support for local artists and the permanent display of her work at the Gallery’s entrance remain a testament to her contribution to the arts in Wattle Range.

“Art connects us, inspires us, and reflects the spirit of our community. The Wattle Range Art Exhibition is a celebration of that creativity and connection.”

“We sincerely appreciate the artists, volunteers, and community members whose continued support ensures the success of this much-loved event and sustains the vibrant arts culture in the region,” said Ms Nitschke.
