Come and celebrate spending time with nature and culture at our regional event A Day at the Lake this school holidays at Lake McIntyre.

The Limestone Coast Landscape Board in collaboration with Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation and Wattle Range Council are inviting the community to come along to this free fun filled family day out.

Activities will include, First Nations Elder led walks around the lake showcasing seasonal changes and cultural knowledge, basket weaving, storytelling, art and craft activities, bird identification workshops and nature scavenger hunts.

Limestone Coast Landscape Board education coordinator Mel Holtz encourages all families to attend this day out in nature.

“There are so many wonderful activities on offer at this event,” Mel said. “Walking the Lake McIntyre trail on a seasonal walk guided by First Nations Elders is a special cultural experience.”

Wattle Range Council community development manager Kat Searcy said council was excited for this collaborative event and hoped locals and visitors to the region can explore our unique natural environment.

“Lake McIntyre is a beautiful part of the Limestone Coast, we look forward to this fun filled day,” she said.

Bring a picnic lunch, purchase food and drink from the event or enjoy the free sausage sizzle.

This project is supported by the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (FRRR), through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.

The event is being held on Friday, October 11, at Lake McIntyre, Millicent from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
