Financial boosts for palliative care service

IN HOME Hospice Care Inc. (IHHCare) is delighted to announce it has received funding of $5000 from Foundation SA (a sub-fund of Australian Communities Foundation) through the 2025 Foundation SA Neighbourhood Grant Round to support volunteer training.

This funding will help IHHCare continue to provide volunteers with specialist palliative care training alongside practical skills workshops and accredited CPR training.

These skills not only strengthen their ability to support people with life-limiting illnesses and their families but also build resilience and safety across the whole community.

IHHC manager Sandi Elliott said volunteers were the backbone of the organisation.

“This support ensures our team is well-prepared to provide companionship, respite, and emotional support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families, while also gaining skills that benefit the wider community,” Sandi said.

Since launching in 2021, IHHCare has provided free volunteer support across Mount Gambier and 11 surrounding towns.

By responding flexibly to each individual’s needs, IHHCare eases pressure on families, strengthens community networks, and fills critical gaps that no other service in the Limestone Coast is meeting.
