Member for Barker Tony Pasin paid a visit to the Mount Gambier City Band’s rehearsal recently to present the band with a new Australia and indigenous flag which is flown on significant days from the band’s building.

Attending the band’s rehearsal and listening to the band’s music it is set to perform next month the Federal MP was impressed.

Mr Pasin also paid tribute to the band’s commitment to the community and the recent service they have given to various activities across the region.

He reflected on his own experiences in times past when as a young person he experienced music lessons on Sundays on the same platform that graces the building today.

Mr Pasin was also impressed with the improvements and renovations that have taken place in recent years to bring the existing building, which has been a city landmark since 1965, into a quality contemporary venue.

He also highlighted the long standing role the band has played in the city since 1895.

The flags were presented to the band’s flag officer John Cruise, president Allen Woodham OAM and musical director Trish Bruggemann (pictured above).
