Friendly reminder for holiday makers

In the lead up to another busy tourist season, Wattle Range Council are reminding all 4WD enthusiasts to be aware of the tracks on which they drive and to make sure they do not enter private property without permission.

This issue is particularly pertinent in the areas between Beachport and Nora Creina where the inland 4WD tracks are located. Although many members of the public have utilised these tracks in the past, property owners have requested council formally communicate to the public that the tracks traverse private land and are not open to public access without landowner authorisation. Trespassing penalties apply.

4WDers should be aware that when they are north of the boundary of the Beachport Conservation Park, the only permitted access is along the beach. Beach conditions change and can be hazardous, so it’s crucial to monitor conditions and check tide times before your journey. Anyone driving off road does so at their own risk.

There are many spectacular areas within the Limestone Coast region where 4WDing is permitted and responsibly managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, such as Canunda National Park and Little Dip Conservation Park. These areas are also where camping is permitted in designated areas. You can find maps and book your campground online at: Find a Park – National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia.
