From their family to yours
After being on the backburner for a few years, the Lucindale Golf Club has finally published its highly anticipated cookbook.
Not just in golf circles, the Lucindale ladies have a reputation for being outstanding caterers with their delicious home cooking and sharing those time honoured recipes in a book as been on the agenda for some time.
Julie Wilks is one of those ladies who has been at the forefront of converting the family recipes into a publishable book which was unveiled last month.
“We decided it was time to get on the computer to put down our golfers’ tried and true recipes in a book,” she said.
“We have a reputation in our club and golf region for our catering and home cooking.
“We hold a monthly medal lunch and soup on Wednesdays after golf where we share our soup, quiches, casseroles, salads on a voluntary basis.
“We all enjoy cooking, so swap recipes and ideas which is where the idea began.
“The recipes in this book are family favourites or ones passed down from mums and grandmas. A lot are simple and quick.”
Club favourites including Jacki’s Belgian Tart and Petrina’s Jelly Cakes are part of the book, which is aptly called ‘Share’.
The ladies have been collecting recipes from the lady golfers from May through to August this year and then undertook the somewhat tedious task of typing them up and proofing the recipes before it was sent to the printers and then released at the South East ladies Ambrose last month.
“We had some help from computer savvy daughters to finalise the draft and we were extremely lucky to have 12 generous sponsors come on board to help cover printing costs, so it will be a worthwhile fundraiser for our club,” Julie said.
“We called our recipe book Share because we share our lives, friendship and food with our golfing families and thought it was apt to share our recipes with others.”
