Fundraiser turns arty for a good cause

AFTER raising almost $15,000 last year, Mount Gambier mates Matthew Tully and Liam Fielding are suiting up again to take part in the Mystery Box Challenge – a Cancer Council fundraiser.

Running under the name Straight Outta Compton, the team, joined by new co-driver Phillip Mongomery this year, are now firing up their fundraising ahead of their August adventure.

With the 2025 rally starting in broken Hill, the home of celebrated Australian artist Pro Hart, the Mount Gambier based team decided to draw on the popular artist for fundraising inspiration.

The team’s major fundraising event is titled Let’s Get Arty will have a something for everyone.

There is the opportunity to paint two cars, which will be placed on public display, to producing your own take home masterpiece on a carpet square.

The musical backdrop to the event will be provided by Jimmy Bay and there will be nibbles on offer.

The Let’s Get Arty day out is on May 24, from 1-5pm at 316 Cafpirco Road, Compton.

Tickets are available from https://www.trybooking.com/CZZCI and are $60 a head.

The Straight Outta Compton team will also hold some smaller fundraisers as well as they look to help fund cancer research.

The beauty of the Mystery Box Challenge is drivers only know the starting point, which is also the finishing point but all the locations in between are as the name suggests – a mystery.

Last year, Airlie Beach was the starting point and the team travelled 2631km, including sealed and unsealed roads.
