Gallery joins Fringe festivities

THE art of cake decorating was featured in the Naracoorte Regional Art Gallery during the recent Taste Festival.

Lauren Williams of Finding Joy – Cakes, demonstrated her art on cupcakes with an Easter theme.

She discussed and showed about 20 visitors her skills and what ingredients, equipment and techniques were required. These included fondants, colouring methods, piping bags, edible glitter and chocolate sauces.

It is the second year that the Gallery has supported the Taste Festival event in Naracoorte, with Im Dawson demonstrating fruit carving last year.

Lauren chose to ice four different cupcakes which featured Easter eggs, rabbits, carrots, green grass and Easter wishes.

Gallery executive officer Bec Greening said the demonstration recognised the art involved in cake decorating with a modern theme.
