Going above and beyond
Year 11 student Paul Hammond was awarded the 2023 Tenison Woods College Flyers Award at the college’s Remembrance Day Assembly last Friday.
The Award seeks to acknowledge a student in the senior school who has demonstrated the ability to go beyond what is generally expected of them, puts others before themselves and has a strong sense of comradeship, including their service to the college community and beyond.
Mount Gambier RSL president Robert Sandow presented the award during the assembly, sharing the stories of four Marist Brothers Old Scholars, including that of Anthony Casadio – 2018 Tenison Woods College Shining Light Recipient.
Paul received the award for being a kind, inclusive and hard-working young man. He is a loyal friend and one that you could always rely on to help if needed. He has a strong sense of social justice and he has shown his faith in action throughout his schooling at Tenison Woods College by, helping at all the working bees and volunteering his time and fundraising for various causes such as Vinnies and for Timor-Leste.
He has matured in his confidence this year, especially during his time on the Timor Leste trip and has also grown in his leadership skills and enjoys mentoring within his part-time job at Coles.
