Gold Cup is fast approaching
The clock is ticking on preparations for the 2024 Scott Group of Companies Mount Gambier Gold Cup and organisers are encouraging the public to secure their tickets for the March 22 social event of the year.
And the fun is not restricted to race day with the launch party at The Henty on March 19 and the Calcutta at The Globe Hotel on March 20.
The off-course action always rivals the racing but with an increased prize purse, Mount Gambier Racing Club manager Brett Watson, was hopeful the event would attract the best horses, trainers and jockeys available.
The prize pool for the day’s racing is $250,000 with the Gold Cup now a $70,000 race, up almost $20,000 from the last time it was run.
For the first time at a Mount Gambier meeting, SEN Track will be on site with their $150 a head marquee experience, featuring former local Miles Pfitzner and Group 1 winning jockey David Taggart.
Tickets for the Sen Track Marquee includes gate entry, meal voucher, six drink card (beer, wine & soft drink) plus a race book and, of course, the up close and personal access to the SEN Track tipping experts.
Mount Gambier based tipster Mitch Lewis will also be part of the SEN Track experience and check out next week’s Mt Gambier Times for our chat with Mitch about where his love of racing has taken him thus far.
Koonara Wines is a long time supporter of the Mount Gambier Racing Club’s premier annual evet and their marquee will again be the place to be seen and the opportunity to enjoy fine food and wine trackside as the horses do their thing.
Your ticket to the ultra-glamorous Koonara Platinum Marquee includes a five-hour premium wine and beer package with cocktail-style food and entry into the racecourse.
You’ll enjoy exclusive betting facilities, prime views, and live entertainment and a donation will be made to the Stand Like Stone Foundation for each ticket sold.
There is also a members and members guest luncheon if you can snag an invite to that function, while uncatered marquees are still available for the public from $400 as well as a raft of other hospitality packages.
Bookings for all marquees and the concourse are available online or by contacting the club on (08)8725 4466, with free courtesy buses running from The Globe and Jen’s Hotel carpark.
