UNITED Way Glenelg, through the Lewis Court Fund, has proudly supported Portland District U3A with a $2300 grant to fund a memorable day trip for members to explore the stunning waterfalls of the Hamilton region, capped off with a degustation lunch at the renowned Bunyip Hotel in Cavendish.

Close to 40 U3A members to enjoy a unique experience, many of whom had never visited the waterfalls before. The excursion provided an opportunity for social connection, discovery, and culinary adventure, reinforcing the value of community-based initiatives.

United Way Glenelg executive officer Nicole Carr highlighted the importance of the funding in fostering community connection.

“Supporting programs like this aligns with our mission to create opportunities for older residents to connect, learn, and experience new things,” Ms Carr said. “It’s wonderful to see U3A members enjoying this outing and knowing our support made it possible.”

Portland District U3A representative Cheryl Ford expressed gratitude for the support and the impact it had on members.

“The trip was a fantastic success. Our members were amazed by the beauty of the waterfalls, and the lunch at Cavendish was a highlight,” Cheryl said. “We are incredibly appreciative of United Way Glenelg’s support, which helps us continue to provide enriching experiences for our members.”

United Way Glenelg remains committed to funding initiatives that enhance the well-being and engagement of community members across the Glenelg Shire.
