Huge crowd attends Harmony Day Wish Festival

THE Harmony Day Wish Festival at the Naracoorte Swimming Lake at the end of last month was an outstanding success, with a huge crowd enjoying a community picnic with free multicultural food offerings and performances.

Festival goers could also make a wish by releasing a floating lantern on to the lake at twilight.

Presented by the Limestone Coast Multicultural Network in conjunction with Naracoorte Lucindale Council and the Australian Migrant Resource Centre, the Naracoorte Harmony Day Wish Festival was held to commemorate Harmony Week – a national celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds.

It was great to see so many community groups involved in the event, including the students from Naracoorte Primary School, Naracoorte South Primary School and Sunrise Christian School Naracoorte for creating the colourful flags that adorned the Swimming Lake fence to add to the festival atmosphere.
