Liberals unveil 2026 candidates
LIBERAL Party members have recently announced two new faces to represent the party at the March 2026 South Australian Election in the two Limestone Coast electorates.
Rebekah Rosser was selected to be the party’s candidate for Mackillop, taking on incumbent Independent MP Nick McBride, while the Mount Gambier seat will be contested by Lamorna Alexander.
Mount Gambier is currently represented by Troy Bell, who is in his third term as the local member.
Rebekah is a Robe local with a strong family connection to the Mackillop electorate dating back generations.
She was raised in Robe and has since settled back in the town, building a tourism business with her husband, Andrew.
Following the preselection, Mrs Rosser outlined her desire to see MacKillop locals represented by someone who could advocate for strong, values-driven policy at the highest levels of government.
“I am pleased to be selected by our local members in MacKillop,” Mrs Rosser said.
“We have a real ability to bring back strong representation for our electorate, into things that will make a difference for us here, like long term funding for our regional roads and aged care funding that will support people to stay in their own homes.”
Leader of the Opposition Vincent Tarzia said that Mrs Rosser’s preselection was another example of the high calibre of candidates running for Liberal seats.
“Rebekah’s experience in the Olsen and Howard Governments, together with her commercial acumen will bring important skills to the Parliament,” Mr Tarzia said.
“While the local member has been distracted with personal issues, only the Liberal team has skilled people ready to hit the ground running.”
Mrs Rosser has a resume full of experiences that have prepared her for civic duty, including spending seven years as a ministerial advisor, working in the office of former state Opposition Leader Rob Kerin before taking roles in the federal public service under Prime Minister John Howard, including as secretary of a parliamentary agriculture committee and a clerk for the Liberal Party’s whip – or business manager – in the Senate.
Lamorna is a Mount Gambier based lawyer, who has raised three children and built her legal practice in the region, and her history of community involvement has driven her passion for regional development across the Limestone Coast.
Speaking after the preselection, Ms Alexander said she was passionate about shaping policy to better reflect regional needs.
“I love our beautiful region and close-knit community,” Ms Alexander said. “I will campaign tirelessly to make sure that our electorate’s needs are addressed by the parliament in Adelaide. I’m a proud supporter of our small businesses and our agricultural industries and will fight for policy that supports them.
Mr Tarzia said that Ms Alexander brought a practical and valuable skill set to the Liberal team.
“Lamorna is an outstanding addition to the Liberal team. She will be a strong local voice and her experience in regional policy development and community focus, together with her integrity is exactly what the people of Mount Gambier want,” he said.
The next state election will be held on March 22, 2026.
