Lions reflect on past year

LIONS Club of Gambier City recently celebrated their 48th annual Changeover with dinner at RSL Bowling club.

President Brad Smith handed over the reins to Graham Phillips with the installation of the 2025/26 President Graham and the Board performed by past Zone 11 Chair Beryl Mahoney.

Past president Brad Smith presented Lions members Nancy Mansell, Julie Tuohy, Maxine McInnes with 10 years membership milestones, and outgoing board members 2024/25 were acknowledged with appreciation.

Highlights for the year included continued sponsorship of a story dog at Suttontown school, donations to Limestone Coast Domestic violence service, Blankets to Salvation Army and St Vincent DePaul, donations to FoodbankSA, Headspace, in Home Hospice care and SEAWL all locally as well as a purchase of stoves for ‘winter in Ukraine’ appeal.

Activities such as painting fence at Lake Terrace Cemetery, Dinner hosted by Tenison Woods College students, visit to MFS station, support to students at Gordon Education centre, sponsorship of a UniSA student.

Fundraising to support the community included Bunnings Sausage sizzles, catering at Generations in Jazz, Mt Gambier Show, Timberlink Family Day.
