Local author up for major award

JUST five months after launching her second children’s book High High High Up in the Sky, Liz Crowley has been named a finalist in the 2025 ABLE Golden Book Awards.

In 2022, ABLE Golden Book Awards started recognising and celebrating the extraordinary achievements of inspiring writers. The awards honour the incredible talent of authors and the impact their words have on the world.

“It’s a huge honour to be named alongside the list of talented authors,” Liz said. “Being an indie author is hard work. You don’t have anyone behind you marketing your book. You must do everything yourself.

“It is an ongoing challenge to be recognised amongst the thousands of books hitting the shelves every year. It is also hard being in a rural zone, you don’t get to meet and network with other writers.”

The awards gala ceremony will be held in Melbourne on October 18 and Liz has already booked her flights.

“I’m looking forward to networking with all the other finalists at the event,” she said.

Keep an eye out for Liz’s next local book event which will be at the Mt Gambier Library on Saturday, November 29, at 10.30am where she will be doing a reading followed by a craft activity.

Local support has been amazing and Liz’s books are available locally at Collins Booksellers, Mt Gambier, Naracoorte Art Gallery, and Limestone Coast Local.
