Locals set to shine at gallery
Artists Mark De Nys (pictured) and Jane McCumstie, who have been practising their craft for many years across Australia, invite you to join them on a journey through signs, symbols, and meanings.
This exhibition at the Millicent Gallery will transport you from the everyday into the extraordinary through a mesmerising fusion of abstract and figurative works.
Jane’s vivacious, uplifting art and her beautiful sculptures will be a perfect foil for Mark’s strong and innovative sculptures.
DeNys and McCumstie explore the universal language of signs and symbols, inviting the viewer into a world of hidden layers and meaning.
The exhibition is a conversation between the art and the audience, shaping stories unique to every viewer a wonderful opening to 2025 Gallery Program.
Jane lives in Millicent and can be found in her studio, painting and designing her bold works through to delicate sculptures. Mark lives in Beachport which is fast becoming a hub for artists.
Jane Skeer, who has recently returned from an arts residency in Glasgow will open ‘A Journey Through, Signs, Symbols & Meaning’ on the evening of Friday, January 31st at 6pm.
This vibrant exhibition is the first of a strong and diverse exhibition program for 2025, which will also include a JAM Factory touring exhibition, two national textile exhibitions, ‘Imaginarium’ celebrating recycling, and Re-A-Range, Fifth Street Hub, SALA – Thumbprint, SEAS, and solo exhibitions as well as the 15th anniversary of the Wattle Range Photographic Exhibition and the 10th anniversary of the Wattle Range Art Exhibition.
