Meals on Wheels chasing new volunteers
Meals on Wheels Mount Gambier branch is on the hunt for more volunteers and as part of that campaign there will be an Open Day at the branch’s O’Halloran Terrace premises on February 24 from 10am to 2pm.
Meals on Wheels provides a vital service to assist people to live independently at home by providing nourishing meals, which include soup, a main meal and dessert, as well as social contact and wellbeing support.
While volunteers for the kitchen is the top priority, more drivers and administration volunteers would also ease the load on the current crop of hard working.
The February 24 Open Day is all about giving potential volunteers a front row seat to how Meals on Wheels runs on a daily basis, from the meal preparation to the delivery of meals, to the inevitable paperwork that accompanies any community group.
Meals on Wheels will take whatever time you can offer from a weekly shift to less frequent shifts.
Head to 10 O’Halloran Terrace on Saturday between 10am and 2pm to see what it is all about.
