Millicent artist snares award
The votes have been counted and the 2024 South East Art Society’s Open Art Awards People’s Choice winner has been announced.
Millicent based artist Ma Victori Puiatti took home the honour with her painting Dualis Veritas.
It was one of 107 art works that were part of the annual exhibition, this year held at Millicent Gallery.
The People’s Choice Prize, along with all of those presented at the opening would not be possible without the huge support of the event’s sponsors, including major award sponsor Bendigo Bank, the City of Mount Gambier and District Council of Grant, local businesses Phoenix Lending and Kimberly Clark; several individual and family donors and SEAS patron Tony Pasin.
The 2024 Open Art Awards were another big success, due in no small part to the fabulous support of the Millicent Gallery and in particular, manager Janice Nitschke. Not only her amazing enthusiasm and expertise, but also generosity in providing wine and flowers for the opening and judges.
SEAS members should now turn their attention to the Members’ Exhibition to be held at the Riddoch Arts & Cultural Centre from April next year.
The title is The Woodcutter and as the name suggests, will be about all things wood – such as carvings, works on wood, depictions of trees or timber, works on paper or of paper, charcoal – anything really that is from, about or using wood.
