MEMBER for Barker Tony Pasin has visited Mount Gambier’s Frew Park to view upgrades completed thanks to funding provided via the Coalition’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.

Mr Pasin joined City of Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin and council staff to inspect the $486,995 project, which included the creation of an internal roadway, stormwater drainage upgrade, toilet block renovations, and improvements to fencing and seating.

Mr Pasin said the former Coalition Government’s $3.25 billion LRCI Program was designed to stimulate local economies and deliver much-needed community infrastructure.

“The LRCI program was about putting funds directly into the hands of local councils to deliver projects that responded to local priorities,” Mr Pasin said.

“Upgrades like those at Frew Park not only enhance the amenity and usability of public spaces, they support jobs and help councils deliver for their communities without burdening local ratepayers.”

“The Coalition believes local governments are best placed to decide what’s needed in their community, and this project is a great example of what can be achieved when the Federal Government works in partnership with councils.”

The Coalition’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program no longer exists, although its reinstatement remains a commitment of the Federal Opposition.
