New look awards launched
It’s time to recognise an individual or community group that makes Glenelg Shire a great place to live and work.
Nominations for the new 2024 Glenelg Shire Community Awards are now open and council needs your help to recognise and award those individuals and community groups for their commitment.
Categories for this year’s awards are:
- Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Youth Citizen of the Year, Community Group of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Diversity and Inclusion Award, Arts and Culture Award, Outstanding Achievement Award
Contributions can be in any field including education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, sport, arts, environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of a community.

Hard copy nomination forms are available from the Portland and Casterton Customer Service Centres, Portland Library and Nelson Visitor Information Centre.
Nominations close 5pm, Friday, April 19.
Awards recipients will be contacted and officially presented with the awards at events during Volunteers Week in May.
