Newcomer Burley shows good form
AFTER an icy start in the rescheduled 3rd Round of the Yellow Marker Short Course Trophy, sponsored by Grant and Dianne Perryman, at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week, the day ended in sunshine.
Thirty-one women vied for a chance at getting their name on the trophy with one more round to go then the best three of four scores will count in the end result.
The short course is played with reduced handicaps determined by golflink.
The par rating was 65 and scratch rating 60.
The winner in Division One was club captain Helen Myers with a very respectable nett 64 off her reduced handicap of 9.
Myers had six pars in her outward 37 strokes and five pars in her inward 36 strokes.
Sue Agars followed closely with nett 65 off her 12 handicap that included five pars along with birdies on the 13th and 17th holes.
Geraldine Scott was third on the podium signing for 83/16/67 that included three pars on the outward nine and three on the inward.
Bev Pascoe was the winner in division two playing off a 20 handicap signing for nett 64 with splits of 41/43 that included two pars on the outward nine and three on the inward.
Lucy Richards took the second prize voucher signing for nett 65 off a 22 handicap with a par on the 2nd hole followed by pars on the 14th, 15th and 18th holes in her splits of 46/41.
Lyn Gill was third after posting 98/32/66 with splits of 45/53 that included a birdie on the 8th hole.
NTP 2nd shot on the 14th hole winners were Rosemary Martland (in hole) and Bev Pascoe (1.10) with Karen Panagopoulos the pro-shot winner on the 5th (5.60).
Chip-in ferret prizes were given to Trudy Herbert 5th, Panagopoulos 10th, Lee Anderson 14th, Richards 15th and Agars 17th.
AUGUST 16 RESULTS
It was back to wintry conditions for the 22 women that teed off in stableford competition and it was pleasing to see Wendy Burley, another of Blue Lake Golf Club’s first year golfers taking top spot on the podium signing for 36 points playing to her 41 handicap.
Splits of 19/17 included a four-pointer on the 5th along with three three pointers and scoring on all holes.
Often in the winners’ circle Josie Ashby followed with 32 points off her 21 handicap after starting her round with a par on the 1st hole, following with pars on the 5th, 12th and 15th holes in her 14/18 splits.
Dianne Perryman came in third spot also with 32 points forcing a countback with Ashby after falling short with 14 points on the back nine where the countbacks are done.
Perryman had a par on the 9th in her outward 18 points with no pick-ups recorded on her card.
The ball rundown included Lee Anderson 30 points, Cherryl Hill 28, Sonia Solly 27 c/b.
NTP winner was Wendy Burley (5.30) and also BF9 winner.
