Hard working committee revives family celebration
Mount Gambier’s New Year’s Eve (NYE) celebration is back this year at Vansittart Park so the region can ring in 2023 together.
Complications and delays with insurance requirements threaten to derail the event but the hard working committee refused to give in and after its COVID hiatus, the celebrations are set to return.
“It has taken a big effort but we have managed to pull it together and we trust the local community will again support the event,” chair Steve Toope (pictured) said.
“The event would not be possible without the support of number of sponsors and we sincerely do thank those supporters who have come on board for the 2022 celebrations. Without them we would not be able to stage the celebrations. It is great to the event is being held.
“Keeping costs down to make it affordable for all, has presented some challenges, however we are maintaining the same entry fees we have had for the past four years, $35 for a family ticket (2 x adults and up to four children), $15 for adults and $10 for concession holders. Once inside the venue all activities and rides are free. Patrons only need to purchase food and drink. They can bring their own food and drink if they wish but cannot bring alcohol into the venue.”’
This year there will be a number of activities including laser tag, bumper soccer, dodge ball, jumping castle, slide, mini put put, photo booth, face painting, tattoo artists, live music and of course fireworks at approximately 9.30pm and midnight. There will be a range of catering outlets and alcohol sales. The event will be live streamed on community radio 5GTRFM.
The event is an enjoyable celebrations and one that strives to provide a safe family atmosphere for all to attend. There will be the normal security at the event with police providing additional support during the night.
The live music line up will include Calamari for Breakfast, Skyline Haze, Magnet, Stokes and Christie Wallace Trio. Times of the line-up performances are yet to be determined and will be available on via the event’s facebook page, as will other updates and details about the January 31 event.
