Providing the tools

Women’s health is set to take centre stage with Women’s Health @ Hawkins and Two Lines Fertility joining forces to host an expo as part of Women’s Health Week.

‘What you need – Your Women’s Health Toolbox’ will kick off at 12pmanad run through to 7pm on Tuesday, September 3, at Mount Gambier’s Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre.

Speakers, stalls and classes will be on offer to ensure women have what they need to be their healthiest self.

Topics including contraception, sports injury prevention, the practicalities of budget management and affordable healthy eating, pelvic floor issues, menopause management or how to get your body moving, there will be something for every woman, no matter their stage of life.

Dr Monique Kanters, of Women’s Health @ Hawkins, and Lucy Lines, of Two Lines Fertility, are not only keen to keep women up to date with the most accurate health information possible, but also hope to highlight some of the amazing services available to the women of the Limestone Coast.

“Good health doesn’t come from people working in silos, it comes from people working together, and using a patient-centred approach,” Monique said. “This is a way of bringing those people together in one place.”

Lucy Lines said there were so many amazing practitioners and services right here on our doorstep, and this seemed like an excellent way to bring everyone together under one roof.

“Women of the Limestone Coast don’t need to feel like being in a regional area means they’re disadvantaged when it comes to their health,” Lucy said.

There is a lot of ‘health’ information available to women these days, but some of it is certainly more accurate than others.

Monique, Lucy and their team were looking to provide women with good science based information, as well as just some plain practical advice, to help them lead their best lives.

This event is just one part of Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week. Every September, more than 200,000 people connect across Australia to share vital, up to date, health information in regards to women’s health. Jean Hailes is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers practical, and easy-to-understand information for women, as well as Australian health professionals.
