Roll up, roll up
Tahlia Weber is a seventh generation circus performer, having been on the road since childhood and now stage managing The Great Moscow Circus.
And as the circus went through its set up last Tuesday and Wednesday, it was a case of all hands on deck.
“We all wear a lot of hats,” Tahlia said. “I do trapeze, dancing and stage manage the show. Some of the other girls work in admin and the box office and apart from two of the guys doing set up right now, they are all performers from the show. We all help set up and we all help pull it down and pack away.”
After being homebound during COVID, Tahlia and The Great Moscow Circus team have thrived being back on the road and this trip to Mount Gambier has them even more excited as they bring their extreme production to their May 3-12 visit.
“We have the Globe of Death, the Wheel of Death, and everything the motorbikes do, including the freestyle motocross – we have some of Australia’s best, including performers from Nitro Circus,” Tahlia said.
And while there is this new high octane aspect to the 10 days of performances, there is still plenty of traditional circus acts, including the dancing and trapeze and a Charlie Chaplin inspired comedy act.
They are also unveiling a new acrobatics act – Duo Acero – who are gold medal winning performers, a husband and wife duo that also appear in the Guiness World Records.
“We are really exited to have them on board,” Tahlia said.
All up, there is around 40 personnel that make the magic each and every performance so head online or drop into the box office at the Mount Gambier Showgrounds to secure your tickets for this circus extravaganza.
