Senator heading to town on listening tour
SENATOR Jacinta Nampijinpa Price is set to visit Mount Gambier as a guest of Member for Barker Tony Pasin on somewhat of a fact finding mission in her role as the Shadow Minister for Defence Industry, Shadow Minister for Defence Personnel and Senator for the Northern Territory.
Senator Nampijinpa Price’s visit, set down for August 1, will include roundtable discussions with local businesses aligned with the defence industry, as well as meetings with local RSL representatives to discuss the needs and priorities of veterans and their families across the region.
Mr Pasin said he was looking forward to welcoming Senator Nampijinpa Price to Barker and providing local residents and businesses the opportunity to engage directly with a leading figure in the Federal Coalition.
“Senator Nampijinpa Price is a strong voice in the Senate and a fierce advocate for the interests of Australians living in our regions,” Mr Pasin said. “This visit is about connecting our local defence-related businesses and veterans’ groups with a key decision-maker in Canberra.
“It’s a great opportunity to bring people together to discuss the issues that matter – from supporting veterans and serving personnel to growing regional industry.”
Senator Nampijinpa Price said having been recently appointed as Shadow Minister for Defence Industry and Defence Personnel, she was looking forward to hearing from those with first-hand engagement in our defence industry supply chains, as well as from our veterans and service men and women.
“To understand how we in Canberra can be better supporting them and their contributions to our national defence.”
Senator Nampijinpa Price will also be attending a dinner on the Friday night.
