Shop local competition returns for 2023

Glenelg Shire Council’s popular ‘Eat, Shop, Play Local’ competition is back again for a fourth year from September 18. Across a four-week period, residents are encouraged to Eat, Shop, and Play Local across Glenelg Shire. Local businesses are invited to promote this competition by putting up and sharing the posters, social media tiles and encouraging customers to enter for their weekly chance to win up to $500.

By spending $50 to more at a local business anywhere in the Glenelg Shire, entrants go into the draw to win a weekly $500 shopping voucher to the local business of their choosing. Businesses where the lucky winner purchased from and the businesses where they select their vouchers from will be featured each week on the Glenelg Shire Council social media.

Entrants simply need to keep their receipt and drop it with their name and contact details to the closest Customer Service Centre in Casterton, Heywood, or Portland. Winners will be announced every Monday via council’s social media and website.

As part of a new initiative to show our love for local, an additional weekly $50 voucher will be up for grabs for Glenelg Shire residents who post a picture of themselves supporting a local business, tagging the Glenelg Shire Council and the local business, including the hashtag #EatShopPlayLocalGlenelg for a chance to win! All local businesses are encouraged to use the hashtag throughout the campaign and sharing the attached social media tiles to encourage engagement and cross promotion across our region.

Weekly entries are unlimited so be sure to encourage entries from all customers who visit each week until 5pm Sunday, October 15.
