Showcasing the gift of the gab
Two members of the Limestone Coast Toastmasters Club have returned from a public speaking contest with strong results, including Andrea Braun earning a berth at a district competition next March.
Andrea Braun and Natalie Zwar competed in the Area C9 contests held at Payinthi College in Aldinga earlier this month – an honour earned by finishing first or second in the annual Limestone Coast Toastmasters Club competition.
Andrea Braun entered the Evaluation, Table Topics and International Contests walking away with first place in all three, which is why she has now advanced to the next level – the district final.
Natalie entered the Humorous, Evaluation and Table Topics sections and walked away with two seconds and a third.
Both Andrea and Natalie reflected on their achievements by acknowledging the support and opportunity to learn and improve their skills over the past few years whilst being an active member in their club.
“I would never have considered delivering a speech let along enter a contest,” Andrea said. “Anyone who is not comfortable in giving a speech should come to Toastmasters to learn the necessary skills in order to prepare and deliver a speech.”
Mark Reynolds (pictured below), another Limestone Coast Toastmasters Club member, who is located in Adelaide, took on the role of Chief Judge and did a fantastic job of organising the event and all the necessary logistics surrounding the event.
Limestone Coast Toastmasters will be holding their final meeting for the year on December 6 and invite any interested parties to come along.
If anyone is interested in joining Toastmasters they can contact the club Vice President for Membership Elizabeth Hodges on 0419 595 653.
Interested people are welcomed to attend any club night which are held the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Mount Gambier RSL on Sturt Street starting promptly at 7pm
