A celebration of local produce was hosted by the Hamilton Pastoral and Agricultural Society earlier this month as 15 local producers showcased their products at the annual Sow and Savor Soiree.

The black tie dinner brought together local farmers, producers and service providers to honour the produce of the local region.

Held in the Sheep Pavilion at the Hamilton Showgrounds, the five course dinner showcased the finest local produce, highlighting the talent and dedication of the regions’ farmers, chefs and producers.

Working closely with Jordan Lanigan at The Speckled Frog, the team incorporated all 15 local producers into the dinner.

Producers who supported the event included Grampians Olive Co, Casterton Distilling Co, Honest Eggs Co, Timboon Railway Shed Distillery, Seppelt Wines, Suffoir Wines, Lambpro, Grampians Food Co, Bochara Wines, Grange Garlic, Westerly Downs, Papers Scissors Rock Brew Co, Henty Estate and Glenelg Chocolates.

Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to engage with the producers behind the ingredients, gaining an insight into the journey from farm to table and the importance of supporting local agriculture.

Darren and Kylie Schurmann, of Kingaroy Partnerships ,who supply to LambPro, were thrilled to have their own Hampshire Down lambs included in the evenings menu.

“Our Hampshire Downs lambs spend 80 days on grain, all 100% Lambpro genetics, specifically selected for high eating quality,” Darren said. “We were absolutely thrilled with the presentation, flavour and quality of the dish, presented by The Speckled Frog.”

Lambpro supply their products to some of the best restaurants in the world.

Hamilton Pastoral and Agricultural Society events manager Emmelie Nijskens was thrilled with the event.

“We are absolutely stoked with the outcome of the event, we are very grateful to our sponsors, producers and guests who helped us get this one up and running,” she said. “It’s great to have another event for the Hamilton region. We can’t wait to make it bigger and better in 2025.”

Live entertainment and lucky prizes added to the festive atmosphere, creating a memorable night of culinary exploration and local connections.
