Storm repairs continue
THE Casterton community are still recovering from the October 2024 storm.
Council was not immune to sustaining significant damage to some Council facilities and assets. One of Council’s major facilities in the town is about to get its final set of repairs.
The roof of the Kathleen Millikan Centre will be repaired during the April school holidays.
This time was chosen to minimise disruption to the centre, which has continued to operate with some changes for safety following the storm and we would like to thank all our families for their patience.
The works will take place between 5 April and 21 April and during this period KMC will be closed to anyone apart from the contractors carrying out the work.
There will be an impact to long day care families over this period. Each of these families has been informed and of course no charges will apply during the closure period.
Other works are also being done on Council-managed facilities in Casterton.
These include the Casterton Town Hall and Library, works depot and the saleyards selling ring.
The historical nature of the Town Hall means that extra time has been needed in planning the works.
These include internal painting, plastering and electrical work but also to the roof.
It is expected that these works will cause minimal disruption to the public’s use of the space or access to the library and customer service centre.
