Tackling a tough issue
MENOPAUSE and perimenopause are finally getting the spotlight they deserve with a free information night on Thursday, May 22, at UniSA Mount Gambier
The event will bring expert voices and real-life experiences together to break the silence around these natural life stages.
Open to women across the Limestone Coast and beyond — and those who support them — this free event offers medical insights, practical strategies, and a safe, welcoming space to start important conversations.
The event, co-hosted by Lucy Lines of Detox WTF, and Dr Monique Kanters from Women’s Health @ Hawkins, will feature a dynamic panel of healthcare professionals, including:
• Dr Monique Kanters, General Practitioner
• Megan Watt, Accredited Practicing Dietitian
• Tarsh McCallum, Women’s Health Physiotherapist
• Lucy Lines, Toxins Educator & Reproductive Health Advocate
• Dr Monja Human, Clinical Psychologist
• Dr Tema Windust, Specialist Gynaecologists
Together, they will explore a range of essential topics — from the biological changes of perimenopause and menopause to real-world strategies for managing symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, mood shifts, hot flushes, and more. The evening will highlight the value of education, support, and open conversation in helping women navigate this transformative stage of life.
“Perimenopause and menopause are often misunderstood and stigmatized, but it’s crucial for women to feel empowered with the right knowledge and tools,” Lucy said. “We’re creating a space where women feel supported, informed, and empowered to thrive through this transition.”
The event is free to attend, and participants will leave with practical, science-based resources to support their health and wellbeing. A Q&A session will follow the presentations, giving attendees the chance to ask questions directly to the expert panel.
